A small white church

Porto Rafael

A small, white-walled chapel interior with green ceiling beams features three religious statues on an altar adorned with candles and flowers.

Commissioned by Count Rafael in honor of Saint Rita — the patron saint of artists — this tiny church is one of the smallest in Sardinia. Simple and pure, its white façade features a bell gable and double wooden doors. Inside, a small masonry altar and a few delicate details create a peaceful space of devotion. The church is still active: every year on May 22, the community gathers to celebrate with mass, a rose blessing, a procession, and a torchlit vigil.
